In Your Pocket

Consider the Blessings...President Thomas S. Monson

This weekend I had the opportunity to eat dinner with a group of friends I don't see very often.

We spoke on many different subjects...one of which was blessings.

We talked about the blessings we sometimes overlook.

The small blessings.  The ones we maybe take for granted.

I was reminded of the manna in the wilderness.  On the first morning it was miraculous.  But the blessing of it all must have worn off, because remember how the people began to worship the golden calf?

They were still receiving manna every morning.  From a God who they forgot to thank.

How did they overlook the blessing?

"I have found that...if we will take a step back and consider the blessings in our lives, including seemingly small, sometimes overlooked blessings, we can find greater happiness."  (Thomas S. Monson)

Today I am on a search for the seemingly small, sometimes overlooked blessings.

I don't want to miss even one of them.

I want to make a list of the blessings from heaven that fill my life that might have become ordinary over time.

I want to make sure I mention them all in my prayers tonight.  Every one.

I found a quote today that I want to remember:

Perhaps there will be an ordinary blessing I have forgotten.  One that is small and faded.  One I have forgotten to cherish.

When I discover it, I am going to put a reminder of it in my pocket and carry it around with me all week.

Until it wears a hole right through my heart.

Deliberate Discipleship:

What small and faded blessing would you put in your pocket?
