Whom Have I In Heaven But Thee?

Psalm 72:16 - Psalm 80:2

On Friday morning at 5:00am I left my home for the airport.  I was supposed to be traveling to Harrisburg Pennsylvania with eight other women.  At 6:40am we boarded the plane.  At 7:00am it taxied away from the terminal.  At 7:15am it taxied back.

Mechanical problems.

We were asked to leave the plane.  We couldn't help but panic.  All eight of us, standing in a circle, wondering what we should do now.

In less than ten hours, 1200 women would gather in Harrisburg to hear us speak.  But how would we get across the country in less than ten hours?

From our circle we watched the huge crowd of passengers line up at the ticket counter.  Somehow we knew the agents there would not be a resource for us.  Neither would the customer service reps at the other end of the phone.

We needed Heaven's help.  So we turned to the Lord in prayer.

Within minutes we learned of a flight going to the East Coast, currently boarding passengers, on the other side of the airport.

We started to run.

We were guaranteed two seats on the plane.  But we needed six more.

Again we turned to the Lord.

Somehow, within minutes all eight of us stood in line.  Eight women with eight tickets waiting to board a plane for the East Coast.

So what started out as a flight to Harrisburg Pennsylvania turned into a flight to Washington DC.

And still our hearts were focused on the goal...Pennsylvania...

After a four hour plane ride, and a three and a half hour car ride we made it.  Directed each step of the way.  By strangers somehow placed in our path to help us.  Through Heaven's help.

Across the country from Salt Lake City, Utah to a crowd of 1200 women waiting in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

I know how it happened.

We were held by the right hand.  Guided.  From Heaven.

Because we put our trust in the Lord.

Consider your own life.  Do you ever have one of those moments when you find yourself wondering what you should do now?  When it seems no earthly help can solve the trouble you currently face?

In the moments when it seems there is no one on Earth to help perhaps you could remember the promise testified of in Psalms:  Whom have I in heaven but thee?

There is One who will hold you by the hand, guide you with His counsel, and strengthen your heart.

Draw near to Him.

Today, put your trust in God.

Nevertheless I am continually with thee: thou hast holden me by my right hand. Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel... Whom have I in heaven but thee?

My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever. ...it is good for me to draw near to God:

I have put my trust in the Lord.

(Psalm 73:23-28)
